Photoshop Glass Buttons Tutorial

Start by creating the shape of your button, with a solid fill colour.

Then in the main tools menu select the magic wand and click on the solid fill colour of your button. Now go in to the select 'menu' and choose ' modify' then ' contract'. For this tutorial I have contracted the selection by two pixels.

Next create a new layer above the selected layer, and choose the gradient tool from the main tools menu. The gradient fill should be white to transparent, click and drag to gradient fill the selected area. It should now look like the image on your right.

Depending on the look of your button, you can alter the opacity of the layer, for this tutorial I have lowered the opacity to 59%. Then simply add your required text to the new button. You can create a variety of different styles of button by using different photoshop gradients.
